Check out those Torque Thrust wheels and black steel rims.........
On Saturday, March, 1st, this car ran 11.95 @ 119.78, thanks to Dwayne
Porter's solid roller camshaft and "entry level F.A.S.T." 906 cylinder
heads!!! The heads flow 281 @ .550........
The car weighs 3,840LBS with me in it and has a STOCK STROKE, 13 to 1,
.030 over 440, with exhaust manifolds, Six Pack intake, and
carbs....with a Center Force clutch, Hemi 4-speed and 4.10's. At first,
I ran it on the bias redline tires........They're hard as a Mummy's nut
and even slightly dry rotted.......I was just mainly concerned with
getting a good MPH....
Tulsa had a Test and Tune today and it was packed.....Temp was in the
70's and the D.A. was 2,300 feet.........
There were lots of street tired cars there, so the track was
TERRIBLE........it was so bad that if I power shifted into third, the
tires would spin so hard and fast that the motor would go right up
against the 7K rev limiter!!! I actually thought I'd missed third, but
I was in gear and blowing the tires off!!! so, I had to drive it really
easy out of the hole, speed up enough to granny shift into second, then
tip into the end carbs and it would spin, then shift into third and tip
into the end carbs and it would spin again, and then granny shift into
fourth where I could finally open up the carbs all the way.....
Running like that, in order, I went 13.21 @ 115.09, 13.08 @ 115.3,
12.91 @ 115.5 with sixty foot times ranging from 2.283 to
2.222..........It was spinning so bad in third that I was afraid I'd
lose it, so I decided to put a set of M/T Drag radials on........
I drove it home (my house is about 7 miles from the track), swapped
tires, and drove back out to the track......I pulled into the gate and
right into the lanes.....water temp was 170.......
I did a small burnout, staged, drove it out of the hole easy (to be
easy on parts) and power shifted my way to an 11.955 @ 119.78 with a
1.945 sixty foot time!!! It even spun the drag radials about 5 feet
when I'd power shifted into second and that was with the LM1 showing
10.9 at WOT!!!
I pulled back in line with the plan of hitting the 60 foot clocks a
little harder......The car left good........and then I missed 4th
gear!!! .......That was the first time I'd missed it in this
car.......I go to the ET shack and the printer is not working......
Some friends tell me that the scoreboard showed a 12.20 @
115MPH........ so, that's how it ended.......
All in all, it was a blast....It was one of the most fun days I've
spent at a dragstrip.......The car runs so good I can't even believe
it........It's the most fun car I've ever driven......
Idles smooth and quite.....pulls to 7,000RPM with iron heads and
exhaust manifolds like it's nothing......
Thanks, again, Dwayne.......You are the Pimpetious Pimp Daddy of
Pimping.....
